JBOSS Cluster Supported

    I know most database-oriented clustering schemes with multiple VMs sharing common storage are incompatible with Zerto, but what about JBOSS clusters, where the separate JBOSS instances can be automatically clustered to improve load performance, but persistent storage is not involved?

    Hi Richard,

    Touching on DBs with shared common storage, you are correct if the VMs are using something like a singular VMDK shared between the VMs with Multi-writer. But, (just wanted to clarify) there are ways to expose common storage to a VM and have Zerto continue to protect said VM. An NFS, iSCSI, or CIFS share originated within the VM would be totally support (though remember that we would not be protecting the data on this share in replicating the VM /itself/).

    I looked through the JBOSS documentation and I didn’t see anything that would lead me to believe that this doesn’t work, but I haven’t done a thorough analysis. Specifically, I did not see anything indicating they shared a common vDisk collection. From that perspective, what does the storage on these VMs look like? Do they share VMDKs or RDMs in any way?

    I would highly recommend that your reach out to your local Zerto team to have them discuss the options with you.
