Change Failover/Test Network Yields Sync

Is there a way to avoid having to resync a volume when changing the failover/test network? I’m uncertain as to why this would be necessary. I’m trying to understand the process a little better. Any input would be appreciated.

There are several causes of syncs, however, I’m not getting a full sync when changing network settings. I do see it “Updating” the VPG status. I’m running 4.0 U2.
